Coaching methodology

What coaching is, how it works, and what makes Jarrod's approach different from therapy or mentorship.

3 questions

In Solutions Based Forward Focused Coaching, I work with clients to clarify their objectives, identify obstacles, and create actionable steps forward — breaking through personal barriers and creating meaningful, sustainable lifestyle change.

Solutions Focused Coaching is built on a powerful concept: you already have many of the answers you are looking for. Sometimes they are just buried under stress, uncertainty, habits, or the noise of everyday life. Instead of spending time analyzing problems or dissecting the past, it focuses on where you want to go next.

Solutions Focused Coaching uses three core mantras:

  1. If it is not broken — don't fix it.
  2. Once you know what works — do more of it.
  3. If it does not work — don't do it again. Do something different.

No. Coaching is not therapy. Therapists are trained to help people process trauma, heal from the past, and work through deep emotional or psychological challenges. If that is what you need, Jarrod will refer you to the appropriate professional.

Coaching is also not mentorship. A mentor typically gives advice based on their own experience. A coach asks powerful questions that allow clients to discover their own answers — because your life, your values, your priorities, and your circumstances are unique. The goal of coaching is not to tell clients what to do. The goal is to help clients figure out what is right for them.

There may be times when a coach shares their own personal experience — when it is relevant and relatable to the client's goals. But guidance always flows from questions, not directives.

"Positive psychology is an area of psychology that focuses on well-being, happiness, flow, personal strengths, wisdom, creativity, imagination and characteristics of positive groups and institutions." — Boniwell and Tunariu, 2019

It is not simply focused on increasing individual happiness — it is concerned with happiness and flourishing within groups and communities as well. It is the scientific study of optimal human functioning: discovering what makes individuals and communities flourish rather than languish.

Positive Psychology focuses on positive experiences at three different time points:

  1. The past — focusing on contentment, satisfaction, and well-being
  2. The present — focusing on flow experiences and happiness
  3. The future — focusing on optimism, hope, and possibility

Alcohol-Free Performance Coaching

What it is, who it's for, how the WHO AUDIT screening works, and what you will gain.

3 questions

Alcohol-Free Performance Coaching is aimed at those who are NOT potentially physically dependent on alcohol. Most people don't identify as "problem drinkers" — but do fall into what is known as the "Middle Lane." Over 2 billion adults worldwide drink in ways that range from a few glasses a night to heavier weekend habits.

No matter where you fall on that spectrum, changing your relationship with alcohol can create powerful shifts in your physical health, mental clarity, emotional resilience, values, purpose, and overall performance.

Before any Alcohol-Free Performance Coaching session begins, Jarrod uses an Alcohol Use Disorder Identification Tool (AUDIT) created by the World Health Organization as part of a multi-step onboarding process — to determine your current drinking habits and ensure coaching is the right fit for your situation.

Not at all. The goal of Alcohol-Free Performance Coaching is not abstinence — it is awareness and intentionality. Many clients have no intention of quitting entirely. The coaching helps you honestly examine what your relationship with alcohol costs you and make choices that better align with your values, performance, and wellbeing.

What that looks like at the end of coaching is entirely up to you. Some clients choose full alcohol-freedom. Others simply become far more intentional about when, why, and how much they drink. Both outcomes represent meaningful, compounding improvement.

Clients who work with Jarrod on alcohol-free performance typically reclaim and elevate:

  1. Physical performance — better recovery, energy, and stamina
  2. Mental resilience — reduced anxiety and sharper emotional regulation
  3. Clarity — improved focus, decision-making, and cognitive sharpness
  4. Time — hours previously lost to drinking or recovering from it
  5. Money — immediate and ongoing financial savings
  6. Energy — consistent daily energy without the crash-and-recover cycle
  7. Focus — the ability to be fully present with family, work, and goals

You will finish with a personalized performance framework to continue improving your lifestyle, habits, and long-term goals.

Credentials & accreditations

What Jarrod's qualifications are, what they mean, and why they matter when choosing a coach.

2 questions

Jarrod is a Certified Alcohol-Free Performance Coach and holds a Diploma in Coaching & Positive Psychology from The Coach Business School.

The Coach Business School is triple accredited by the three leading global coaching bodies:

  1. ICF — International Coaching Federation
  2. AC — Association for Coaching
  3. EMCC — European Mentoring and Coaching Council

Before beginning any Alcohol-Free Performance Coaching engagement, Jarrod also uses the WHO AUDIT — an Alcohol Use Disorder Identification Tool created by the World Health Organization — as part of his client onboarding process.

The coaching industry is largely unregulated — anyone can call themselves a coach without formal training, a code of ethics, or professional accountability. Accreditation from the ICF, AC, or EMCC signals that a coach has completed rigorous, internationally recognized training and adheres to a professional code of conduct.

Triple accreditation — through all three leading global bodies — is the highest standard available. It means Jarrod's coaching approach is grounded in evidence-based methodology, ethical practice, and ongoing professional development — not intuition, personal opinion, or unverified frameworks.

When you invest in coaching, accreditation is your assurance that the person you're working with has earned the right to guide you.
